The world needs leaders who can help solve some of the globe’s most pressing problems, particularly in sustainable energy. What better place than to hone your leadership and industry-specific acumen than in your MBA program.

Several MBA programs help students either launch their career or continue growing within the sector. In the next few weeks we will highlight five (5) top MBA programs with great elective options to customize your training for a career in sustainable energy.

The highlighted programs have been selected for the caliber of opportunities provided and their success in placing graduates in the sector. We will focus on areas these institutions consider instrumental in training tomorrow’s leaders in sustainable energy. This week, we highlight MIT Sloan:

Therefore, the modus operandi compels MIT Sloan to create resources to prepare MBA students to become leaders in energy outcomes required for sustainability. Through electives, co-curricular, and hands-on learning experiences, students can pursue a variety of paths, including learning about energy-related ventures, policy research, become energy fellows, etc.

For those interested in strengthening their credentials, MIT Sloan MBA students have the option to earn a Sustainability Certificate whose program is structured to help students find solutions and enhance humanity’s relationship with our global ecosystem.  Furthermore, students have the opportunity to join the MIT Energy Initiative as Energy Fellows to help develop technological solutions that deliver clean, affordable, and plentiful energy to a global community.

To affect the world on a global scale, robust policies are required. Students interested in policy should consider working with faculty researching the field through the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research (CEEPR). Students gain valuable insights about global energy issues, enabling them to acquire the skills required to develop policies rooted in sound economic and environmental principles.   

MIT Sloan Energy Club’s goal is to help students gain exposure to the sector through learning, networking, and building community with like-minded peers. The club organizes annual conferences like the MIT Energy Conference, Energy Night, and MIT EnergyHack. They also host career fairs and other informative discussions centered around entering the sector.  

A global impact mindset compels MIT Sloan to provide plentiful resources in sustainable energy. While their MBA is a general degree, they also offer diverse pathways to meet the various students’ goals and ambitions within Energy and Sustainability.
